Implantable Contact Lenses
Eyesite works alongside Advanced Vision Care to provide patients with the non-laser, reversible alternative implantable contact lens (ICL) procedure. AVC is the UK’s leading clinic in this procedure.
Rather than changing the shape of the cornea, flexible miniature contact lenses are placed between the iris and human lens to enhance the eye’s natural focusing ability. The result is excellent quality of vision for a wide range of prescriptions.
An ICL procedure is done somewhere in the world every 12 minutes* and treatment takes just 30 minutes, although around a one week interval is needed between each eye. Anaesthetic eye drops are used to numb the eye and antibiotic eye drops are given to prevent any infection.
There is very little discomfort associated with the procedure and most patients are able to leave our clinic the same day, ready to enjoy what Mr Pillai describes as newly improved “HD vision”. AVC treats prescriptions up to -23.00D or +11.00D with ICL and patients with astigmatism up to -5.00D CYL or +5.00D CYL. ICL can also help patients with keratoconus.
